  • 40th annual Halloween Parade and Costume Contest in the LOOP October 31
    Friendly ghosts and goblins will saunter alongside pumpkins and princesses during the 40th annual Halloween Parade and Costume Contest in the NSB Waterfront LOOP. The parade will beginat 4 p.m., Friday, October 31, at the intersection of Orange and Canal streets, New Smyrna Beach. Participants are encouraged to be in place by 3:45 p.m.  The procession will continue four blocks tothe historic Chamber of Commerce building. A costume contest immediately will follow the parade. Judging numbers will be distributed as each contestant enters the stage. Only original costumes are eligible for judging. Prizes will be awarded in six groups: Age four and under, 5 - 7 years old, 8 - 11 years old, 12 - 17 years old, 18 and over. A group costume prize also will be awarded. First through fourth place and best recycled costume prizes may be won in all groups. Trick or treaters also are encouraged to visit participating merchants on the historic street.
